Hi: I was thinking about taking a new laptop with me when I move. However, voltage in the US is 120V, and in AU - 230V. Would that mean that I can just buy another adapter? Do you think laptops are more expensive in AU? I would pay about AUD$2,000 for a good one here. v

Two reasons to buy a laptop here in Aus: 1. Cost. Obviously depends on what kind of spec you want, but you can get a very good capable lappy for about $1200-$1400 AUD. 2. Warranty. Your gonna get full Aus warranty no questions asked. (and in your case a 3rd reason, correct voltage and no plug adaptors!) Cheers, KIEREN

Hi Victoria, Just to add a bit of info, items bought in the uk will be 240v ac although oz is 230v ac everything brought from the uk will work as long as you change the plugtop to an oz one ( about a dollar)!! Hope this helps malc

Hi sally, It will work, the dvd player as long as you haven't set the region to region 2 (uk) will work no prob, even if you have its an easy software fix, and as far as voltage is concerned, its just a case of changing the plugtop to an oz one or using an adaptor!! malc

I brought my laptop and went to Dick Smiths (electrical shop) and replaced the power lead $70.00. This also had a number of fuses in the pack and a booklet with a list of laptops and the correct fuse to use in the power pack. As I have a lot of vital info on it I didn't want to run the risk just changing the plug which I'm sure will work fine but if a power surge occurs this could possibly wipe out your data better to be safe than sorry. All other electrical stuff I just changed the plug and it
