Weve just booked our flights through Singapore Airlines flying from Manchester & arrive in Perth at the end of April, we are very excited..... but after just arriving back from Mallorca today we have struggled at the airport with 2 kids, pushchair & 2 suitcases (with 2 grandparents helping)...... So how on earth when we arrive in Perth will we manage with 160 kgs of luggage, 2 car seats, a pushchair & 2 kids??? Do they have extra large trolleys for migrants??? have only got to get bags off carousel to hire car but worried about logistics??? Is it possible?? We are shipping personal effects over but wanted to really make most of double baggage allowance.

|Hi Ady and Melita,
Yes it most certainly is possible. We have 2 kids under 4 on e 3 one 18 months. The kids where fab on the flight. We flew Singapore, kept the pram until we got to the gate then got it again at the gate in Singapore. We flew to melbourne and actually collected the pram in the luggage lounge! So you need 2 trolleys poor husband will have to manage both! Or a trolley and the pram you have the other trolley in this case.
If you need to buy new suitcases think about a back pack each some have a smaller back pack thats zips to the front of the big pack pack you can use this for hand luggage. Although most airline are only accepting 1 piece of hand luggage each so that include camera bags etc.
My little girl never got to use her bag with toys in as we had to squash it into one of our larger bags. Other wise they make you dispose of the excess.
Also think if you ask for assiance they will proberbly help at the other end. We didn't get any but didn't ask just managed!
Good luck am sure you will be fine.

Hi Michelle, when you say your little one didn`t get to use a bag was that out of choice. We are going to book with singapore and have a 5 year old, i was hoping she would have a small hand baggage , i thought a child could have the same baggage allowance as an adult, is that wrong? Dee

we are a family of 4, flying out on 13th May to Perth via Singapore too.
We got double baggage, as our baby is only 11mths, we paid for a seat for her too so we get 40 kilos for her. 120 in total for the 4 of us.
You can pack a little bag for her hand luggage, snacks, toys etc.,
Pram can as Michelle says stay with you until the boarding gate.
When you arrive, you can get a larger taxi for all the bags, car seats, pram etc.,
You can also pre-book ones with car seats for the childrens ages.
We've pre-booked with SWAN TAXIS's in Perth - down to Mandurah region for $180.
We will get all the gear into this as no one we know there can collect us all with all our gear..
Hope this helps you out.

Your 5 year old will get the same allowance. But my daughters was a pull along childs bag. So it didn't hold much, so rather than a small bag you need to use as big as you can on the allowance. You can get mini suitcases but with all you need to carry you don't want waste allowance or space. For instance if you carry one small hand bag that is classed as one piece of luggage. But you could put the hand bag inside a holdall. You must check with airlines when flying but think they are all the same. It's to cut down on clutter on flights am sure.

Begining to wonder the same thing, just packed the car and it is bursting and there are two more suitcases to go!! I wouldnt take you carseats they are not legal in Australia, as they have only passed EU saftey checks, so that might save you some luggage.

Thanks for that, i was thinking of leaving the small girls car seat here. Do you know if the laws on children using car seats are the same in Aus as here? Dee

Have been thinking of taking two booster seats for our children who are 4 and 6, are these allowed in addition to hand luggage? I'd find it really helpful to find out the Aussie law about car seats/booster seats, seems little point taking them all that way if we can't use them at the other end. Would be grateful for any info.
