Hi everyone, this is my first time on. We were all set to move to Coffs Harbour in 2008. All the furniture was all in containers, and we had moved in with my parents. House sold and signed, but the couples never came across with the money. So back in the house now and so wanting to go to Australia. So we have been looking to move to Butler, just want to know will our 8 year old settle. Is their enough to do in Butler. He loves football, swimming and mainly outdoor stuff. Also my husband having second thoughts is their enough jobs for motor mechanics. Thanks Sharon

Hi Sharon - Butler is a great suburb and we have lived here for 3 years this year. My son was 6 when we arrived and he settled straight away. He goes to the local state school Butler Primary and loves it. He has tons of pals and is always playing out at one of the many local playgrounds. Theres so much for kids to do here if they are sporty, my son also attended the local Swim school for the first 2 years which was great as they teach them properly here. My older son went from stage 6 right thru to life saving at the same swim school. Good luck with your journey, Sharron

Hi Sharon, We are currently living in Butler (although we are planning to move closer to the city)... I have four children, 9, 6, and two 3 year olds and they all love it. We have found that there are pros and cons: PROS: You are really close to the beach plenty parks all around lovely community feel The local public school is good and my sons have settled in well there. Lots of clubs to be involved in Proper outdoor living CONS A bit isolated not much character 1 hours drive from the city ( it matters if you will be working in the city, i start uni tomorrow and the hours drive is a big deal!) A lot of breakings ( happens all around I suppose) we live in a road bad for boy racers, terrible when the kids are out playing I hope this helps, best of luck Alia

Hi, We are still in early stages. My hubby has been in the motor trade for 22 years. Time service mechanic and Service Manager for the last 7 years. Works for Arnold Clark in Scotland in various franchise. Even though he has been a Service Manager he is still doing daliy mechanical duties. He is worried that if he leaves a well paid job here, what kind of pay would he be on over there. Thanks Sharon

Hi - we got our visas with the help of Overseas Emigration (OE Visas) based in Edinburgh. Cant fault them, they were excellent but it was also almost 3 years ago - Sharron
