Hi, I dont know about time limits, but we are in the same boat. Our container cleared customs last week and we need it storing, it is going to cost us about $230 hanling fee and then approx $37 per week to store a 20ft . Austin

Hi guys usually the container is de-vanned/emptied and put into bond for customs to inspect and carry out AQIS. Then they re-pack in another container and deliver. If you store - it should be the same practise, as there is usually a queue for AQIS and clearance they won't hold up containers, as it costs money and ties up premium container stock, so the industry standard for personal affects is to unload and then repack/deliver. Standard time allowed before penalities is usually 5/7 days free in Freo. After that charges per day are levied, so if you know you've got no rental tell them to move to storage. As Austin says its not alot of money to store per week. Good Luck Pauline
