Hi All Anyone in the same boat as us (VETASSESS stage) you may not of heard yet.... Our agent has just told us that the GSM applications (Subclasses 175,176 and 475) have temporary suspension and it is envisaged that this may come to an end at the end of the current program for 2009/10 in June 2010. Any one that sends/lodges a new application will have it returned and it will be considered invalid. Sorry to be bearer of bad news at them moment... I can't believe it... Woke up to a hung parliment and now this.... fingers crossed it gets better from here! Marie-Louise & Russ Stuck in the UK!

Same as here. Got my skills assessed ok, done my Ielts, got state sponsorship approval about 6 weeks ago and have just had the last piece of the jigsaw done today to send off my full visa application. I'm not confident my job will be on the new SOL list so I will just have to sit tight and see what happens. Had WA not taken 7 months to process my application, my application would be sitting on someone's desk in oz right now!!

Hi Marie-Louise and Russ, We applied for our 176 visa July 2008, after having spent the months beforehand putting togeteher everything. We waited and waited... had the vetasses done etc and then on September 2009 we were told that hard luck basically but your visa will not be processed until end 2012.... Then a week later we get asked for meds and police checks however we were unable to produce them as i was 7 months pregnant... they say ok. Thinking that our boat has sailed we go through Christmas and as soon as baby is born we get asked again for meds and police checks... got them done and we sent them off end of March.... end of April visa granted. Don't despair... keep positive and hopefully it won't be too long for you guys Mari x

Honestly they constantly change the goal posts!!in sept 2008 we were told to get our 175 application in by christmas and we would be out in sunny OZ in summer 2009,we lodged on a 175 in Jan 2009 only to be removed from the critical list we were then told 12 to 18 months and over the last few months we have been told 2012/ 2013, hows that bloody right or fair!! They need to get that idiot rudd out and stop changing posts all the time they are messing with peoples futures!! Idiots!!! rant over:) Natasha

Hi All Thanks for words of support and well done to those of you who have just managed to get your visa. I know it is a waiting game. We too have tried before in 2006 after my then boyfriend (now husband) had gone back into his trade in 2005 in the hope that we would get in with 12 months recent work experience as that is what our old agent told us to do, obviously our application was turned down at the first step! After 4 yrs we embarked on it again this time making sure we could provide plenty of evidence and work history etc..We recently went to Perth and were over the moon when we came back to the find out Russ had been put forward to the VETASSSES... I will still remain hopeful that my husbands trade is still on the list. When we were out in Perth they were crying out for mechanics so I hope it is still the same! I don't want to think of the other possiblities after having my hopes pinned on this since our first visit to Oz in 2003! As soon as I get any updates form our agent I will post again and keep you informed. Well done to those of you who managed to get visas and to those like us... chin up, sit and wait and stay positive! xx Marie-Louise
