Hi we are hoping to be in Perth by 2011 and my wife wants to become a nurse in Perth she has worked in caring homes for the last couple of years and wants to get a better job, What qualifactions do you need, how long does it take to become a nurse and where are the universities which train nurses all information would be welcome thanks Darren and Alison

Hi. my sister trained to be a nurse here. She was at Curtin Uni. It is a 3 year degree course after which you work as a post grad nurse for 12 months. I will get her to send you a pm. Regards Bee

Be prepared to dig deep into your pockets. A couple of years ago the course fees alone were about $25,000. Add in the travelling and accommodation that may be required if she gets a regional/rural practice placement and one can see why they are short of nurses here.
