Hi everyone - we are thinking of changing a few things round the house. Can anyone advise me on whether its possible to put another phone point in and whether it needs to be Telstra that do it? Also the wall i would want it on is not a cavaty wall, would this be possible or would it entail too much work and mess? - Sharron

You only need one telephone point nowadays. If you have a cordless phone set, only the base station needs to be plugged into the network. Likewise, if you have a computer, get a wireless modem and connect it to the same phone socket with a splitter (comes with the modem). If you have a desktop PC without built in wireless capability, just buy a wireless network card or usb wireless connector. The main wireless modem only needs to be hard wired (physically connected) to the PC during set up. I am sat outside in the garden typing this. We have one phone point in the kitchen set up as described above. We have a study with a PC and a phone in the bedroom.

Thanks for the info Jim, I will look into it. It was for my pc more than the phone as I wanted to move pc into a different room. Like you said I could still have phone plugged in where it is now and then get a wireless modem for PC, is that correct? sorry I am abit stupid when it comes to pcs haha - cheers again - Sharron

You can either get a wireless modem/router which connects to the internet and sends a wireless signal around the house, or can can just buy a wireless router and connect it to your existing modem. A wireless modem/router would be the best option. For the initial set up, you will need to connect the PC to the router.
