Nearly 30 pubs across the State will be allowed to stay open until the early hours of the morning to show World Cup games.
The pubs, which span the State north from Karratha to Port Kennedy in the south, are usually forced to close at midnight. Instead, they will be able to stay open until 5.30am.
Strict licensing conditions such as lock-outs and limits on what kinds of drinks are sold are expected to be imposed.
The City of Perth launched its World Cup program of entertainment and activities at the Northbridge Piazza two weeks ago. Following the World Cup opening ceremony on June 11, 22 matches will be screened at the piazza.
Applications for pubs that applied last week are still pending.

|I like to watch my football in the privacy of my own home. That way, I can see the action without getting beer spilled on me by idiots going 'oooooohhhhh' every time England gets the ball in the other sides half. I am also not too keen on the hangers on that follow every world cup. The best example would be our last quarter final against Portugal when some idiot suggested that as long as we got a draw and some other team lost, we would go through!! (WTF)

|A very useful post. What I am having trouble with at the moment, is the TV showing times on SBS. Yahoo7 listings says that SBS is showing the Engerlaand USA match at 2.00am Monday with a repeat at 4am when we all know that the actual KO is 2.30 am Sunday. However,SBS do not have a replay listed after the Engerrlaaaaand game whilst Yahoo says that SBS will repeat at 4am. I was thinking of watching the repeat at 4.00am to save having to stay/get up for the 2.30 match. I have an under 8's match at 8.30am in Freo, so I would rather get up at 4 and watch the replay.||
