|Hi We moved back to Perth 5 months ago after living in the UK for 12 years so we also did not have any references that were of any use to our agents. We wrote a personal reference from ourselves explaining our situation and that as we were also landlords (our property in the UK is rented) we understood their concerns. We also provided email addresses of colleagues who had visited us in our home and if the agent wished they could have emailed them to get a reference. We also provided a very current copy of our bank statement from the UK showing more than sufficient funds to cover the rent over a year. Just make sure you are very friendly and appeal to the person showing you through as they tend to base their decisions on their gut instinct on whether you would be a good tenant. Also we were also self-employed in the UK and it wasn't a problem with the agent (we showed our most recent set of accounts for our company). BTW we are renting in Mullaloo less than a 5 minute stroll from the beach and absolutely love it. |
