Hi, House prices seem to be dropping in Mindarie and leveling out with surrounding suburbs, but this seems to be up the 'top end', where there seems to be lots of grafitti and problems with kids from neighbouring suburbs, can someone tell me which bit is Mindarie Central and which is 'Keys'...i've heard lots of horror stories about drug dealing in certain areas which I think are around Mindarie Central and this is affecting house prices...can anyone confirm????.....we really like the harbour but don't want to buy in a bad area. Many thanks Robert

Hi, Thanks for that...It seems to depend where you are...a friend of ours was burgled while they slept there last year...obviously 'Dumbo's' from neighbouring suburbs. We're starting to get a feel for the area now and feedback.....we'll stay away from around the shops!.

I think you would be better off not listening to the 'horror stories' and have a good look around and get a feel for the area which you are thinking of buying in. Drug dealing can occur in any area...low, middle and high socio-economic areas and I certainly dont think it is isolated to one particular area in Mindarie.

Suburbs here are huge. Most are larger than your average UK town. Most suburbs have every cross section of society you could think of. The cheaper areas within a suburb will have the lions share of the scumbags and the nicer parts will generally be more expensive. Some suburbs have a higher proportion of scumbags than others. Again, it comes down to how cheap the land is. A new land release miles from the ocean or anything else of interest and where land is cheap, will probably end up as a rat hole. If I was going to build new, I would spend as much as I could on the land and buy the best block available. A lot of people seem to do things the other way around and skimp on the land price so that they can build their 'dream' home. (I have seen some very impressive two storey houses with balconies overlooking a litter strewn main road?)

Not been to the UK for a while then - the towns are big. The towns are now all starting to meld in to the surrounding towns so its just one large urban sprawl. Also r u saying folk with either little money or prudent spenders are scum bags? There are more than plenty people with money that could be classified as 'scum bags'

Of course I'm not saying everyone who is prudent or not well off is a scumbag. The fact is though, that poorer areas contain a greater proportion of scumbags and that goes the whole world over.

Thanks Jim. A very realistic and unusually honest comment. To the other comments...I think Mindarie central is the bit that borders Clarkson and Merriwa on the Marmion. Of course everyone wants to defend thier suburb and i'm sure the people there are great.
