|We're coming out to Perth early 2011. Does anyone know how or where to obtain an Australian electrical license whilst still in the UK?

Should tell you everything you need to know.|

|Hi, the simple answer is 'you can't'.
Once you arrive you need to get in contact with Energy Safety. You need to get your trade assessed again through a different part of the TRA, which needs an aussie address I think to send you the result.
Once you have all the paperwork sorted you then need to take theory and practical exams at the CET (College of Electrical Training). Once you have passed those you do some more paperwork, pay for your licence and then you're over the line.
Sounds so easy!|

|Hi there, my husband has just obtained his through the college of electrical training. It's a 2 week course but he said it could easily have been done in 1 week! It costs about $900 but if you are a permanent resident you are entitled to funding (if the college have any left) which makes it about $250. there is a multiple choice exam at the end and then its another $360 for the actual licence! No employee will look at you until you have the A-Grade licence.
My husband was under the impression that the vetesse thing had changed since we applied and this could all be done in the UK now however we have not looked into it as it doesn't effect us any more. If you want anymore info send me a PM and I will give you my husbands e-mail address.
One thing I would say was if you do have to do the course in Oz book onto it before you come over as Adam had to wait 8 weeks till he could enroll on a course which meant 10 weeks with no work. Where abouts in Perth are you hoping to settle? |
