I am busy sorting out our stuff before the shipping company arrive next Wednesday. Can anyone help me trying to decide what paperwork is absolutely necessary to have with us before our container arrives in Oz as I don't want to forget anything! Also any helpful tips for what to send and pack would be really appreciated.

We kept all certificates, letters of reference, a couple of bank statements, kids vaccination books, drivers licences etc as hand luggage. We also scanned them in and kept them on a thumb drive in another hand luggage bag. We also took a copy of the home computer hard drive (docs and photos etc) on a portable hard drive and carried that in a locked suitcase.

Even though the kids have the red books I would recommend you ask your GP for a print out of the immunisation record as you will need it for schools/nursery and when you come to claim you family assist and child care allowance. Also be aware that your kids will need the Hepititus B injections when you arrive as it is compuslory for kids here. I only found out this on Monday and it could hold up your payments. Good Luck

Wish we had been so sensible Bee, we have just discovered we need our birth and marriage certificates (well I do) which are currently somewhere in the Indian Ocean. Love, Mum

You can still get duplicates sent from the general register office if you have time before you leave. It will cost you but at least you will have them then. https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/default.asp Very straight forward.

We did pretty much the same and I took copies of everything so that when we got here I had copies to give after they witnessed the original. The other really useful thing I did was sort a file for each of us with all our bits and my hubby and had a seperate professional folder each. I still keep them up to date, working on the premise that if we have to get out of here quick it is all in one place.
