Hi Our family are flying out to Oz in Jan to activate our visas. We are flying in to Perth with our 3 kids 4 3 and 9mths and wanted to check if the process of clearing immigration was the normal amount of time ie 45 to an hour depending of the amount of flights comming in or if you spend any extra time at immigration. Any advice would be appreciated. Just tryin to plan ahead with the kids. thanks simone

Hi, you just go through immi as normal and with a bit of luck it won't take as long as you think. We were through in about 30 minutes two weeks ago but that was in the middle of the night. Just don't forget to tick the appropriate boxes on your landing card, ie if you have food (inc sweets & chocolates), prescription medicine etc with you. If you are carrying prescription medicines it helps to have the prescription with you. Good luck.

The process is just the same as if you were arriving as a visitor taking the same time - no fan fare, congratulations or big welcome. On the way out, I even checked with immigration that our visas had been properly validated to be sure that they hadn't forgotten to do something more than just stamp our passports.
