Hi, Myself and my family are relocating with my job to Perth in April. Just a quick question with regards to driving licenses. My UK photo license expires in 2012 but my full paper license doesnt expire until 2044. Do you require the photo part of the license in Australia? Chris

Your best bet is to call the liciencing centre in Joondalup

I would get the photo licence renewed and when you get here you'll have to get an Aussie licence within three (?) months anyway. Car and motorcycle licence will be issued after presenting the British licence. Truck licence will have to be re-taken.

Thanks for the replies. Were going to renew the photo licenses just to be safe.

Hi, I've just obtained my Aussie licence and I have only ever had a paper licence. So quite honestly, I don't see the point of renewing. Save your money instead.

I had normal paper car license, did the bit at the licensing centre. Received my WA licence through the post and it was a Heavy Vehicle Drivers License? I did not point out the error, the scary thing is the other half got HVDL as well.
