My husband, two young children and I are currently considering a move to Melbourne. I have seen a lot on this site about the cost of living in Perth and many people considering returning to the uk, however there seems to be very few posts related to Melbourne (it that because life is so good)???!!! I understand that Melbourne is also a very expensive place to live and realistically I don't think my husband and I would be any better off, but it is the outdoor life etc that we are after. Please could anyone give us some feedback re Melbourne, cost of living, where to live, standards of education anything really. This is really not an easy decision to make. Thanks in advance

Don't worry, Melbourne is a great city, with fantastic education oportunities. Property is expensive though so you need to do your homework, but its a fantastic place.

Hi thanks for the reply. Another question. My husband currently works in th city(London) in the type of job that rarely gets him home before 21.00 and often later, is the work life balance any better in Melbourne or just the same in 'city type' jobs?

Not sure on that one i'm afraid. A city is a city, and Melbourne is a 24/7 city.
