My son is 4 and due to start school here in the UK in September. We are planning on moving to Perth shortly after. When we arrive, does he go immediately into school or is there a year difference. I'm getting quite muddled with everything I read.
If he does start school immediately, do I need to start applying once we know where we are living or wait until we are there?

Thank you so much for the response :O)
Yes, he was 4 in February, so will be 5 in February 2012.
Is Pre-primary the start of the 'compulsary' education or is that year 1. Are both pre-primary and year 1 done at the same schools, and are they the government funded ones?
Sorry.. questions, questions, questions. lol

No Pre-Primary isn't 'officially' compulsary but most people do send there kids. The Kindy (2 full days per week)that my youngest goes to is in a Primary school so Pre-Primary then Year 1 etc follows on as normal. Its a state school so no fees other than the book list (about $100) plus uniforms :0)
Shout if you want anymore help

|You are a star.. Thank you so much for that. Its all making sense. I was having kittens regarding his schooling. At least I know that there is plenty of time to get him situated etc and not just throw him in anywhere.
Many Thanks again :o)|
