|Hi this post is for people who have or who are moving back to the uk - What has your experience been of securing a property back there. Did you rent or buy. What was your experience like of both?
Thanks in advance

We moved back to UK last year Dec. We did not manage to sell our house in Perth so came here and rented. We are staying in Hertfordshire because that is where we used to live 4 years ago. We are paying |

|Thank you for replying. We have never rented before in the UK so a little apprehensive. We thought that we would rent first just to see if we like the area before committing ourselves by buying. Good luck on your return to Perth.

|hi there. we rented on our return - we knew where we wanted to live so we looked at rentals online - then a friend viewed a couple for us to make sure they were sound. the friend explained our situation to the letting agent, we paid 6 month rent in advance and the rental was there for us on arrival. it was really no problem. we didnt have jobs or anything but because we paid up front, they didnt ask for references or anything - I think because you have a good explanation for why you might not have a credit history, job etc because you've been overseas. the rent was not overly expensive - although still more than the mortgage we ended up with!
we bought within the first month but that fell through because we was gazumped. but we got the next house we went for for a good price and are now happily living there. prices where we are have fallen and we got a bargain really - its a good time to be buying in england - well most places anyway.
good luck on your return - we havent regretted it and things have worked out well for us - hope the same happens for you.|
