Woollies is in the news: 'Woolworths has appointed Christine Cross, David Mackay and Michael Ullmer as non-executive directors of Australia's biggest supermarket chain. Ms Cross retired as an executive of UK supermarket chain Tesco in 2003 and now runs a retail advisory consultancy. Currently, she is a non-executive Director of Next plc in the UK.' Yx

Need to get Aldi, Tesco or one of the other big players in to create real competition in WA. Home Improvement stores also need more competition (Bunnings may be lowest prices but they still work on 60% margins). The Bulders merchants I worked for in the UK survived and profitted 8.5% gross margin. $60 for a tin of paint?
