Hi everyone We have submitted our visa application and are awaiting the outcome. Hopefully it will be positive. I have been doing lots of research on migration in general but am still unclear how you go about setting up your own business in Australia. I know I can apply for a Business number for tax purposes. Is there anything else that I would need to do? Are there business rates to pay? I want to set up a work from home business and want to make sure I do it right. Any advice would be appreciated.

hi , i was told the other day that if your child goes to university, you have to pay fees upfront if you do not have citizenship and the fees can be deferred if you do.can anyone enlighten me? my eldest is still 14, so it's not urgent! we got our permanent residency visa may 2008 and arrived jan last year, so wondered when we can apply for citizenship.

HI there, yes you have to be an Austalian Citizen to qualify for the uni fee structure, currently I pay for my uni subjects upfront as I am only PR. Fours years after living in Australia you can apply for citizenship. Hope this helps, there is all the information on the Immigration website with regards to citizenship and there is also a means test to see if you are eligible for citizenship.
