General question hope someone can help We have a visa which we used and moved in 2005. Came back to uk in 2006. Hubby had a skilled visa. Wondering if we chose to come back to Oz again how can I renew my visa because we have since got new passports and the visa was never transferred on new visa and had a new baby as well. Many thanks xxxx Xoxo

What is the expiry on the visa. It doesn't matter which passport it is in, if the visa is expired then unfortunately you are no longer a PR. You could try for a return residents visa but you usually have to prove that you have ties to Australia, house, family etc. If not then its tough and you have to apply again.

I just got a new RRV online and one of the requirements is that you have to have been resident for the 3 months prior to applying. There are other requirements as to total residency etc. but I can't remember them off the top of my head. Go to the IMMI website and have a look. All the info is on there but going on what I know, you have no chance of an RRV. As it is six years since you left you will have to re-apply and your time spent here will count for nothing.

Hi, We did exactly the same thing went out in 2005 and came back 2006 on a skilled visa. We tried for a RRV and got advised by Australia immigration to withdraw the application as we were going to be denied it and that would make it hard for us to apply for a PR again. We have now gone through the process and got another PR visa however the points system has changed and we had to get a state sponsorship to get enough points. Feel free to PM me if I can be of any help. We found it useful phoning Australia immi they are very helpful and will try to find ways to keep a visa active. Has your visa expired?? There were other options if it is still valid ??! All the best Debbie
