Sad though it seems to say, I like my washing machine and plan to take it to Oz. I know that it should be okay for power (apart from needing to change the plug). Does anyone know if it will be okay for water supply. i.e. will the hoses fit Australian washing machine taps? Thanks if anyone can help!

Hi Clare, We bought our current washing m/c in Aus, but took it back to UK and everything worked without problem. The hot and cold water inlets are 1 inch threads (or thereabouts) and all the hoses fitted. I think it's a good idea to bring your machine out, because front-loaders are relatively expensive here and there's less choice. cheers Geoff

Hi, don't know if this will be of much help to you or not. When I have stayed with relatives in WA they all use top loaders and use cold water washes most of the time (they have special detergent). The cycle only lasts 30 mins or so and clothes come out clean, therefore there must be a huge saving in the long term with regards to electricity bills. I think it would take me a long time to get used to it though! regards, Sharon

Thank you Geoff and Sharon. Looks like I might take my machine out! I have read that, despite the the difference in cycle lengths, front loaders use less electricity and a lot less water than top loaders.
