I know there's probably a milliomn answers in the archives but I thought it was easier to ask again!
For those already in aus, is it chesaper or more expensive to buy washing machines, dishwashers, fridges, freezers out there? The people buying our house have just offered to purchase our entire range of kitchen appliances and some will need renewing in a few years anyway. What do you suggest?

I've heard everything is more expensive out there. Especially if you like your front loader washing machine. It doesnt matter if they need renewing in a few years as they will get you by for a while until you get sorted out. I wasnt planning to take mine but have changed my mind on this 1 as it's something less to purchase once you arrive.(unless you're absolutely loaded!)

Lets just say I wish I was absolutely loaded! Thought as much but like the saddo I am I've been anchoring after a new washer for a while.... preferably one that comes with a nice tanned toned butler to load me.. sorry.. it up!!!

Thanks hun - just needed some bargaining power with Kie for a new washer!
The plan is to bring everything and see what happens once we arrive! The only thing we're scrapping is the dining room table, so I'll hang fire and buy a nice new one once we get there.
PS What was that about you being in real estate? Did I catch the end of a joke or have you gone in new direction? Might need a property tycoon for some advice!!|

Yes, I've gone into real estate so yes, a new direction and so far so good. It is all hours like tonight we're meeting Bev and Don at Hillarys Marina but I have a 7pm viewing so have to dash. I don't know how mum's that are in real estate do it though!
Good luck with getting your new washer! Yippeeee that means shopping, so you'll have to see if you can get away with anything else!

Just thought I'd keep you updated on the shopping front........... no new washer yet, but a fantastic new handbag! Beats domestic appliances every time!!!!!!

|can anyone give some links to ozzie computer and appliance stores online that actually have prices for their goods? all the sites I seem to find are shy about declaring how much they charge for stuff.|

Just back from Perth (visiting the wife's parents and doing a reckie - moving 2006), to save you a bit time - none of the stores will tell you their prices unless you are actually in their store (i.e. Harvey Norman, Rick Hart), they are also a bit behind us with regards to internet shopping. Also, when you do go to buy they will all give discounts for cash - just remember to play one off against each other.

|Try www.thegoodguys.com.au go to 'our catalogue' then you have to put in a post code. If you don't know one put in 4217 its the post code where I live in the Gold Coast area. You can't buy online but it displays a catalogue with prices. From personal experience I know when you pay cash they give you 10 to 20% off. Electrical stuff is a little more expensive than in the UK but I wouldn't say it was worth shipping out old appliances. |
