|Has anyone taken their UK digital landline telephones with them to Australia? If so, once you get a UK-Aus adapter, do they work?
We were going to take ours but recently heard that they would need to be 'tested by an authorised AUSTEL accredited test house' and that the 'cost of conversion (if they can be converted) is high'! True?
Thanks in advance for any replies

|yup they work fine, no adjustments or alterations required just bring 'em and plug them in with the correct cable. No phone police to check whether or not they are legal either. Caller ID works fine too. Ours were the BT multi station ones, so pretty happy that they worked fine here as they are pretty expensive.

|No green circle on the bottom of phones bought in WA. My UK ones have and they work just the same.
Have not checked the cost of buying phones here. If you own your own, just bring them. If you don't and you have to buy some here, then i'm sure that in comparison to the costs associated with the move, a couple of phones will be a drop in the ocean. You could check out the price though on http://telstrashop.telstra.com/category.asp?cat=2

|Thanks for your reply - we thought as much (that they would work!) but as usual there is always someone other there trying to make a quick buck!
Roll on September - then we may be able to answer some other peoples questions first hand.
