Hi We have family who live in Forrestfield. We emigrated to WA about 2 months ago. We live in the suburb next to Forrestfield called High Wycombe. We are renting a 4 bedroom bungalow for Aus$265 per week. We have 2 children aged 2 years and 4 years. If you rent and have children you recieve 'rent assistance' abot $60 per week. We also recieve 'Family Benefit' which is a further $190 per week. This is based on our incomings of $45,000 per annum. Buying in these suburbs ranges from Aus$340,000+ for a 3 bedroom house. If you are looking for a 4 bedroom it would cost more like Aus$390,000+. We thought it would be cheaper to locate away from the coast but we are now planning on moving to the north coast to Quinns Rocks. Quinns Rocks is approx 35mins from Perth. We quite like the suburbs here but we have not explored much yet!!! Both High Wycombe and Forrestfield at first seemed really nice suburbs. They have parks, a few shops and takeaways. Forrestfield has a MacDonalds and a Red Rooster. Our favourite is Red Rooster, we love there Rooster Roll!!! I was quite shocked at how many parks there are in High Wycombe at first but I think this is quite normal! We get a couple of boy racers in High Wycombe, but no other problems that I am aware of! We have a lovely newsagents with friendly owners, a couple of Medical Centres, a chemist, Post office, 2 primary schools, the secondary school is in Forrestfield, I have been informed the school is very good. Its quite a quite suburb, there is a Learning Centre and a library. Librarys are great, not like the UK, you dont have to pay anything to join and you can take home videos, DVDs, puzzles and books all for free, they also have computers and internet and plenty of local information.
