Our domestic arrived today wearing a Margaret River WA chocolate factory t-shirt - quite ironic seeing that I had decided that today was the day I was going to tell her that we are more than likely moving. I can only be 100% definite once the visa is through but I felt I had to alert her to what is happening. She is an immensely strong woman and took the news well, all things considered. It is something of grave consequence in her life as the major breadwinner in her family and she did say that this is a disaster. Turns out that her other 'madam' is also leaving for overseas! What bad luck is that. I told her we'd help her find another job and that we'd pay her a 6 month package.
The trail of devastation one leaves in one's wake due to emigration is hectic ... a family uprooted, family left behind, sad grannies, people left without jobs ... yet we are prepared to go through all of this for a safer future. Pretty ouchy stuff!
