Is it just me or does someone else think the new cat laws in Joondalup are totally crazy?
Anyone thinking about emigrating to Oz and settling in Joondalup needs to look these new laws up as they will make you think twice about bringing your precious moggie over here at great expense. They may as well have made cat ownership illegal as anyone who knows anything about cats knows that you can't stop them from visiting the neighbourhood and to keep them indoors all the time is cruel. I am in favour of responsible cat ownership (limiting numbers of kitties per household, sterilisation and perhaps keeping them indoors at night - no mean feat at times) but these laws are dreadful and way too onerous. Imagine ... a $500 fine?!? I hope these laws don't spread all over Australia. I hope these people in power come to their senses soon too. I wonder what the Oz cat associations have got to say about all this nonsense. Cats are not dogs and cannot be controlled in the same way ... they are way too smart! I'd be stressed out of my bracket by now if I owned a cat over there.
