Since receiving the IELTS results we have been doing a lot of research and soul searching. We are now trying to figure out if we should go for a State Sponsorship which would bring my husband up to the requirement of at least 60 points. Or should he retake the IELTS? Apparently they either changed or clarified that the General IELTS is acceptable...my husband took the Academic form of the test. If he were to retake the IELTS and get the minimum score of 8 in each category he would be able to apply for a Visa that would allow us to choose where to live. The problem with State Sponsorship is that no one really wants Dental Hygienists. So far South Australia is the only one sponsoring Hygienists. We are waiting on Victoria, Tasmania and NT to update their lists. Who knows when that will happen. NSW, WA, QLD don't want us :-(
We did submit his EOI (Expression of Interest) with the Dept. of Immigration. His number was in the 55,000 on July 2nd...already that many applicants! Wow!
I'd love to hear what everyone things about State Sponsorship and South Australia specifically.
I'm starting to get scared. I don't know why but I'm worried that we will fly to the other side of the world with our 4 kids and things won't go as planned. Once we are there my husband still has to sit his board exams before he can get his license to work and then wait about 6-8 weeks for his registration. That's a long time to go without a pay check and what if he can't find a job???
