Lesson learned. Today we went to King's Park. Very lovely, amazing views, cheap public transport &etc. But it was bloody hot and we all got cross and grumpy with each other. Next time we'll do it early in the morning and then head for a nice air conditioned museum of shopping plaza for the next few hours!
Despite that we had a good day. Everyone is so friendly and helpful, don't know if it's the sunshine or if everyone's on some sort of happy drug but everyone we've met can't do enough to help us. Even boring jobs like transferring our licences were a real laugh with the girl who was doing our paperwork - can't see that happening in Government offices in the UK.
School is going better than I could have hoped for. Charlie spent Sat afternoon at her new friend's house (we spent the time house hunting and having an ice cream at Hillary's) and Jack's been invited to a birthday party so things are going well there. (Advice please - what sorts of presents do people give here? How much should I spend on a 6 year old?)
All we need to do now is get Doug and job and somewhere to live but hey, such minor worries!!!
