Our friend who gave us the advice below has now had her visa granted and our application was updated last Friday with all requirements now showing as met. Hopefully we will hear very soon. How exciting!!!!
A friend in a similar situation to us just waiting for a 176 State sponsored visa with skills on the CSL has suggested that the visa allocation for 2008 for the 176 has been depleted. She seems to think that the 1st July will see loads mores visa's being issued. Here's hoping!!!
I was on the phone till nearly 1am last night after deciding to contact the DIAC by telephone. The E mails that they send don't give you an awful lot of useful information on your individual applications and don't really tell you anything that you don't already know. I thought speaking to someone in person may prove to be more productive, just a time frame would be useful. After hanging on the line for a good 25 minutes I finally got through to a very pleasant operator who got our files up and said ' Yes you have a case officer and you just have to be patient. Your application will eventually be reviewed but the case officer probably has around 300-400 others to look at as well' I thanked her for her help, not that she had really given me any, and said goodbye. What I really wanted to do was to shout down the phone and say that my patience was running out quickly. I didn't though, it was hardly her fault. So I took myself to bed to sleep in preparation for the next however many weeks of waiting. I just hope our file is getting near to the top of the pile. I am beginning to think that every time you contact the Dept they think ' I'll teach them for being so impatient' and put you to the bottom of the pile again. You don't think they would do you? Andrea
