Wages: Award Rates

Australia's minimum wage from 1 July 2012 is $15.96 per hour or $606.40 per week1
(a standard working week is 38 hours).

In Western Australia, the minimum wage is now $16.62 per hour or $627.70 per week2.

In many industries, pay rates are agreed between employers and unions - "Award Rates" as they are known.

Below we have listed some common occupations and indicative pay rates. Actual pay rates will vary between states, between employers and according to the employees experience, but hopefully it serves to give a useful indication..
